Series 2: Wolof research materials, 1920-2007

Scope and content:

This series is comprised of materials related to Gamble's study of Wolof society, culture, language, and history. It includes notes from Gamble's fieldwork in Wolof areas, books and periodicals, annotated photocopies of primary and secondary sources, as well as maps, illustrations, and diagrams generated in the course of research. Gamble's research on the Wolof is extensive and includes the early history of Goree Island (Senegal), Wolof folktales and proverbs, and Wolof language and linguistic history.
