Norman Panama was an American screenwriter, director, and producer, often specializing in, but not limited to, the field of comedy. Active from the 1940s to 1970s, he was a longtime collaborator of screenwriter Melvin Frank. Together they worked on the screenplays of "Monsieur Beaucaire" (1946), "Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House" (1948), "White Christmas" (1954), "The Court Jester" (1955), and many others, often sharing producing and directing credits as well, and working most frequently with Bob Hope or Danny Kaye. Panama, along with Frank, was nominated by the Academy in the writing category for "Road to Utopia" (1946), "Knock on Wood" (1954), and "The Facts of Life" (1960).
