The series includes article clippings, financial records, legal documents, maps and blueprints of the surrounding area, railroad timetables and brochures, and correspondence regarding leases and sales of parcels to clients. The materials document how the family used and managed the Malibu land as well as their struggle to keep Southern Pacific Railroad from building a railroad through their property.
