Scope and content:

The collection includes correspondence, writings, astrological charts and related astrological documents, invitations received, printed materials, videocassettes, and sound recordings. The astrological charts include cycle charts for Ronald and Nancy Reagan, celebrities and famous individuals, charts for cities and countries. The bulk dates of the material are 1948-2017, with a publication from 1908 and some early notes from 1939.

Biographical / historical:

Joan Ceciel Quigley (1927-2014) was an astrologer, known for being Nancy Reagan's astrological consultant. Quigley was born in Kansas City, Missouri. The family moved to San Franciso, California, after her father purchased the Drake-Wilshire hotel. Quigley worked on Ronald Reagan's 1966 campaign for governor and his 1980 presidential campaign. In the 1970s Quigley met Nancy Reagan through the "The Merv Griffin Show." After the assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan in 1981, Nancy reached out to consult Quigley. Between 1981-1988 Quigley provided astrological consultation to Nancy Reagan. Quigley published "What Does Joan Say?: My Seven Years As White House Astrologer to Nancy and Ronald Reagan" in 1990. Other publications by Quigley include "Astrology for Adults" (1969) and "Astrology for Parents of Children & Teenagers" (1971).
