Martin Anderson papers, 1888-2015, bulk 1960-2010

Republican National Convention, 1962-2004

Scope and content:

This series consists of documents created and accumulated by Martin Anderson as a result of his participation in ten Republican National Conventions. From 1968 to 1980, Anderson helped write the party platform. During the 1984 and 1988 conventions, he was a consultant to the Republican Platform Committee. In 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2004, he was a California delegate. During the 2000 convention, he served as chairman of the Technology and Economic Prosperity Subcommittee, which worked on Internet provisions.

Documents include platform drafts, platform amendment requests, Anderson's notes, correspondence, printed matter (press clippings, promotional flyers, etc.), ephemera, press releases, agendas, organizational charts, and lists and inventories of delegation and platform committee members.

Of note, the series includes letters to Martin Anderson from George W. Bush, Pete Wilson, and Jacob K. Javits. Other major correspondents include Edwin Meese III (Ed Meese) and William J. Casey (Bill Casey).
