Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Library, 1959-1999

Scope and content:

This series consists of documents created and accumulated by Martin Anderson while employed as a trustee of the Reagan Foundation. The bulk of the series regards the Foundation's examination of Stanford University as a location for Ronald Reagan's presidential library. Documents span the years 1959 to 1999, with the bulk created between 1981 and 1993, which are the years Anderson served as Reagan Foundation trustee and chairman of the Ronald Reagan Center for Public Affairs Committee. They include Anderson's notes and thought summaries, printed matter (press clippings, etc.), press releases, meeting minutes and agendas, reports, calendars, photographs, and blueprints.

Major correspondents include Newt Gingrich, Donald Rumsfeld, Harold Agnew, Ronald Reagan, John Paul Hanna, Gary L. Jones, Roger Lawler, Charles G. Palm, Hugh A. Stubbins, Robert Van Roekel, and Lew R. Wasserman.

Of note, the series includes the following items of interest: remarks given by Martin Anderson at a Reagan Foundation Board of Governors meeting, and a memorandum from Glenn Campbell to Donald Kennedy titled "Background and Status of Hoover Institution's Relationship to Stanford University." The series also includes documents about presidential libraries in general, especially those associated with university campuses.
