- Scope and content:
-
This series consists of correspondence to and from Ed Thorp with gamblers, publishers, hedge fund managers, economists, mathematicians, his PhD students, and cryonicists. Most notably, there are folders of correspondence with major blackjack theorist Peter Griffin; game theorist Richard Epstein (also known as E. P. Stein); magician and gambling scholar Russell T. Barnhart, who went on a blackjack trip to Vegas with Thorp and Mickey MacDougall, an expert in protecting gamblers against cheating casinos in 1962; Blackjack Forum producer and RGE publisher Arnold Snyder; and former president of Trans Time Inc., an Oakland cryonics center, Art Quaife. Some of the folders include articles written by and further information about the correspondent, such as resumes and photographs. Most of the folders include a note from Thorp in 2018 explaining the significance of each correspondent.
