Summary

Title:
Chinese and Vietnamese Coin Collection
Dates:
860 BCE - 1907 CE
Abstract:
The Chinese and Vietnamese Coin Collection includes six cards mounted with coins. Four cards are labeled "Chinese Moneys" and are indicated as coming from the "Dynasty Chou," more commonly referred to as the Zhou dynasty. These coins are labeled as "Press Money (BC 620-560)," "Lacca Pu (BC 560)," "Hu Money (BC 320)," "Cikoty Money (BC 860)," "Scimitar Money (BC 580)," "Acravins Money (BC 255-206)," and "Lucky Coin (BC 680-280)." Two cards labeled "Vietnamese Coins Collection" include notes indicating the coins were minted during the reign of Emperors Thiệu Trị (1841-1847), Hàm Nghi (1884-1885), Tự Đức (1847-1883), and Thành Thái (1889-1907). The Chinese coins appear to be examples of spade and knife money, while the Vietnamese coins are all round.
