Scope and content:

Series consists of the United Finnish Kaleva Brothers and Sisters Berkeley Lodge No. 21 administrative and financial records from 1911-2002 as well as a few scrapbooks from San Francisco Lodge No. 1. The Administrative and Financial records include histories, stories, articles, speeches, by-laws, lists of members, lists of election candidates, accounting records, agreements, meeting minutes, proposals, reports, day books, bookkeeping records, the organization's constitutions, applications, licenses, correspondence relating to specific events and meetings, complaints, postcards, emails, rules, bills, receipts, checks, investment and other financial records, newspaper clippings, applicant's medical examination records, lists of sick members and sickness care records, sickness benefits records, studies and inventories, evaluations, documents relating to parties and festivals, programs, advertisements, and food recipes.

Correspondents in this series include Berkeley Lodge's local director W. Aarnikoski; Mr and Mrs. Aarnikoski; Emil Palander; Arvid Nelson, editor of the Message of Brotherhood magazine (Veljeysviesti); W.L. Anderson, the Chairman of Entertainment Committee; Amanda Nummelin; Henry Niemi (Seaside, Oregon); Ethel Mäki, the Grand Lodge tresurer; Walter Wilson; Marge and Wally Saarni and the Saarni Family; Tauno Ahonen; Irene Lampi and post card from the Lodge No. 21 to Mrs Lempi Rae, Jenny ja Henry V. Niemi and Jaakko Paavola (Aberdeen Lodge).

Much of the correspondence is that of Arvid Nelson, the editor of the Message of Brotherhood magazine (Veljeysviesti). Nelson was an active member of Berkeley Lodge No. 21. This correspondence includes circular letters to different lodges and correspondence concerning the Message of Brotherhood magazine's contents. Nelson's correspondence also incudes interactions with other magazines, including the Industrialisti magazine and Lännen Suometar (Western Finnish Maiden).
