Contains material relating to Chao's dialect surveys, including his Wu dialect survey in 1927 and the fieldwork undertaken while at Academia Sinica. Material includes survey pamphlets and charts, various survey publications, and notes on various dialects. Also included are general notes on language reform, Romanization, translation, and other topics, as well as some notes and spectrographs relating to Chao's research on acoustical phonetics.
