Dear Mr. Dykstra:

At a regular meeting of the UCLA Chapter of the American Association of University Professors held on April 19, 1949, the following resolution was unanimously adopted:

Be It Resolved:

That the UCLA Chapter of AAUP commends the decision of the Provost to allow the Phillips-Benson debate to be held on the UCLA Campus;

That the Chapter regrets the decision to cancel the Laski engagement;

That the Chapter declares its confidence in Clarence A. Dykstra and his general stand for freedom of thought and expression; and

That the Chapter stands solidly with the Provost in all efforts directed toward the maintenance of Academic Freedom.
