Biography
Englund was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 6, 1911. He began his career as a magazine writer and started writing material
for vaudeville routines, radio shows, stage musicals, and film. Film projects include
The Big Broadcast (1938),
No No Nanette (1940),
This Thing Called Love (1941), and
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (1947). Englund served as lead writer for Dr. Joyce Brothers' television series and contributed scripts to television programs
including
The Jackie Gleason Show,
My Three Sons,
That Girl, and
The Loretta Young Show. He also served as president of the Writers Guild of America, West. Englund died on March 3, 1993.
