Biographical / Historical

Christopher William "Colorado" Jones (January 12, 1949 - June 29, 2019) was born in 1949 in Palo Alto. He attended the Peninsula School and Pacific High School. Jones was a Vietnam War draft resister and was sentenced to Safford Federal Prison from 1970-1971. Afterward, Jones worked at the Institute for the Study of Nonviolence and later the Agape Foundation. Jones graduated with masters degrees in public health and social work and moved to Seattle. He later moved back to California and died at his home in San Francisco on June 29, 2019.
After his 18th birthday, was a draft resister and worked with several anti-war organizations, including Together, Palo Alto Resistance, and others. He was sentenced to Safford Federal Prison.
After his release, Jones spent seven years as the director of the Agape Foundation, which funded nonviolent social action projects. He later earned a double Masters in Social Work and Public Health at UC Berkeley and moved to Seattle in 1987 to work as a health administrator. He was especially proud of being on the Washington state Governor's Task Force on HIV/AIDS, which created Washington's first large-scale HIV treatment programs. While in Seattle he met his future husband, Bill Prince.
He and Bill moved to San Francisco in 2012, and the following year Christopher organized the reunion of draft resisters that was the beginning of the film, The boys who said no.
