Abstract:

Professional scenic views taken in many locations in Mexico. Subjects of photographs include city or village views, architecture, street scenes, landscapes and waterscapes. Also includes a few portraits. Includes several views taken in Baja California (Mulege, La Paz, Santa Rosalía, Comondú, Santo Domingo) and Sonora (Magdalena, Guyamas, Hermosillo, Alamos, Navajoa). Also includes views taken in Zacatecas (Zacatecas, Jalpa), Sinaloa (Mazatlán, Culiacán, La Guasa), Guanajuato (San Miguel de Allende), Durango (Durango, Barranca del Rio Presidio), Nayarit (Tepic, San Blas), Jalisco (Huejucar), Colima (Manzanillo, Colima), Chihuahua (Barranca de Batopilas) and Mexico City (stadium and bull ring).

Title devised by cataloger.
Photographer's stamp on back of most prints: "Stanley S. Cummings, 111 Third Street, Pacific Grove, Calif." or "S.S. Cummings, 628 Jessie St. Monterey, Calif." Backs of a few prints also include labels for Triangle Photo Service, 24 West 45th St., New York, with Cummings' name written on label. A few other prints bear the stamp of photographer Charles Phelps Cushing, with stamp of permission granted to Cummings from Cushing.
Adhered to backs of all prints are typescript labels describing subject matter and location.
