Abstract:

Studio portraits and snapshot photographs documenting several generations of the Shahzade family of the Fresno area in California, as well as other Armenian Americans. Clippings and other scrapbook material document the teaching and coaching career of Arthur Shahzade as well as news pertaining to Armenian-Americans in the Fresno area and elsewhere around the country. Includes one snapshot of the ruins of Hiroshima, Japan dated December 12, 1946.

Arthur Shahzade was an Armenian American science teacher at Mount Whitney High School in Visalia, Calif., from 1951 until at least the late 1980s. From 1951-1975 he was also the coach of the school's sucessful baseball team.
