[San Francisco Y.W.C.A. international aid worker photograph album]

Abstract:

Album of snapshot photographs documenting an unidentified woman's activities as a member of the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) in San Francisco from 1919 to 1920, and her subsequent activities in Warsaw, Poland as an affiliate of the YWCA's Polish Gray Samaritans, who contributed to the American Relief Administration's efforts to assist refugees from the Russian Revolution of 1917-1921. The first section of the album depicts various activities of the O.B.J. Business Girls' Club of the San Francisco YWCA, including outdoor recreation at Mount Shasta, Topanga Canyon, Lake Tahoe, Los Gatos and camps at Mill Valley and Yolanda Hills (in San Francisco) and conferences at Asilomar. The second section of the album depicts international humanitarian relief efforts on behalf of Russian refugees in Warsaw, in particular the activities of the Polish Gray Samaritans related to the reconstruction of the new country.
