Abstract:

Collection contains glass negatives of views taken in San Francisco during and after the disaster of 1906. Views show fires burning, earthquake and fire damage, refugees and refugee camps. Includes many views of ruins of churches and synagogues. Locations and buildings include Golden Gate Park, Palace Hotel, Hahnemann Hospital, and City Hall. Also includes views from Stanford University, Palo Alto, Redwood City, San Mateo and Santa Rosa. While Stoddard may have photographed some of the images, many items are copy negatives of the work of other photographers, including W.E. Worden.
