Abstract:

Contains photographs by and of Steckel, including his portraits from childhood to old age; and individual and group portraits of mostly unidentified people. An interior view of Steckel's photography studio in Los Angeles and a view of his estate in Covina, California, are also included. Press clippings describe Steckel's life, his career as a portrait photographer, comment on merits of his photography, and describe many awards he obtained. Included is also a copy of a resolution prepared by the Ellis Club in memory of George Steckel after his death in 1938.

Apparently compiled by Steckel's wife. Contains clippings of George Steckel's obituaries and letters of condolences to her.
Commercially produced scrapbook with label: Mark Twain's scrap book... Daniel Slote & Co. (Patent dates from 1873-1881.) Presumably a variant name of product known as: Mark Twain's self-pasting scrap book.
