Collection contains photographs of various soil conservation projects in Colusa and Solano Counties, possibly documented by
the United States Soil Conservation Service shortly after the creation of the agency in the mid-1930s. Photographs illustrate
soil erosion, its effect on orchards and other agricultural lands, and various methods of soil and water conservation (including
dams, gullies and other irrigation techniques). Also depicted are conservation workers and Camp Chester of the Civilian Conservation
Corps. Corresponding note sheets provide further information on photographs (e.g. photographer, geographic location, weather,
type of camera and film, exposure, etc.).
