The Psychedelic Shop, co-owned by brothers Jay and Ron Thelin, opened in January of 1966 at 1535 Haight Street, San Francisco. Reputedly one of the country's first head shops, the store specialized in hallucinogenic paraphernalia and was an important center of Haight-Ashbury district countercultural activity and expression, most notably during the Summer of Love, 1967. The store closed in October of 1967.
