Abstract:

From dealer description: Photo album contains approximately 250 original photographs that are individually mounted and mostly captioned and dated in pen and ink. An early 20th century travel voyage around the world, with the expedition mainly focused on the continent of South America. The journey commences in early 1909 and follows a group of mostly English travelers. These photographs include the following locations, among others, some of which would have been extremely remote: Asturias, Spain; Cape Fria, Namibia; Bahia, Perambuco and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Las Lagunitas, Monte de Toro, Panama River and Puenta del Inca, Argentina; Transandean Railway; school house at Fort Ignacio; Inca ruins; Transandean Route between Argentina and Chile; Santiago, Valparaiso, Vina del Mar, Antofagasta and Port Mejillones, Chile; La Paz, Bolivia; llamas and Bolivians; Sunday market in La Paz; Lake Titicaca; Arequipa, Lima, Volcano el Misti and Oroya, Peru; Cartagena, Colombia; Trinidad; Barbados; Madeira Islands.
