1 box; papers of the Kensington Ladies' Erotica Society comprise their press kit; inter-organizational bulletins; correspondence; flyers and itineraries for promotional events; promotional ephemera; a selection of cartoons by Susan Hutchinson; photographs; newspaper and magazine clippings on erotic fantasy and sexuality; book reviews and articles about the group; a selection of submissions to the "Valentine's Prose Contest for Single Men;" and a small selection of materials from publisher Ten Speed Press. The bulk of the collection is photocopies of fan mail received by the group after the publication of their books, "Ladies Own Erotica" (1984) and "Look Homeward Erotica" (1986). The letters are overwhelming positive and represent a broad readership of married people, aging adults, divorced people, people who have experienced sexual assault and/or physical or mental abuse, gender fluid persons, and disability activist Neil Marcus and authors Erica Jong and M.F.K. Fisher. Also includes a small amount of material on their 2002 book "Sex, Death, and Other Distractions". The Kensington Ladies' Erotica Society started in Kensington, California in 1977, published the three aforementioned books and included core members Rose Solomon, Sabina Sedgewick, Bernadette Vaughan, Nell Port, and Elvira Pearson.
