in the German Army and later with the U.S. Army during WWI; medical work in Russia in the early '30s, in Spain during the
Civil War, in Nationalist and Communist China in the mid '40s in South America and elsewhere; the medical profession and his
research in orthopaedic and thoracic surgery; his medical publications; retirement and farming in Mexico.
