Abstract:
This collection mainly consists of reprint articles and reports related to soil and erosion particularly in the areas of Israel
and Palestine. Some of these reports or articles were authored by Lowdermilk, but the majority were authored by others. This
collection also contains Lowdermilk's passports, honorary doctorate certificate, two photographs, and an autobiography written
by Inez Marks Lowdermilk.

Walter Clay Lowdermilk (1888-1974) was a soil conservationist. He worked with the Belgian Relief Effort after World War I,
in China in the 1920s to help avert famine, in Palestine planning land and water use in support of the formation of Israel,
and served as Assistant Chief of the U.S. Soil Conservation Service. He married Inez Marks Lowdermilk in 1922 and they had
two children together.
