Either an ambrotype backed with oil cloth, or a pannotype on oil cloth adhered to cover glass. Weave of cloth backing is visible
at top, under abraded surface. Image is right-reading and emulsion seems to be on glass, upon close examination, indicating
that it is likely to be an ambrotype.
Housed in case (leather over wood with floral motif and grapes in urn with bird), in a brass mat.
Accompanied by business card (printed letterpress): Wagners' Hotel, Coulterville, Mariposa Co., California. Direct Route
to Yosemite Valley.
