Describes his service with the Hudson's Bay Company since 1831 in Manitoba and the interior of British Columbia, under Peter
Skene Ogden; exposition of duties of a Chief Factor; Sir James Douglas' career with the Company; experiences from 1841 in
charge of Fort Walla Walla; altercation with the Cayuses involving John Tod; and the killing of Samuel Black at Fort Kamloops.
