The Institute of Andean Studies (IAS) was founded by John H. Rowe (1918-2004) in 1960. The Institute is responsible for supporting
field, museum and library research and study in the fields of archaeology, biology, ethnology, linguistics and history of
the native peoples of Columbia, Argentina, northern Chile, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. The IAS publishes a journal called Ñawpa
Pacha (1963- ), dedicated to the study of Andean history.
