Mexico, 1847, on events in Mexico, including the activities of García Torres, owner of the Monitor Republicano, during the
invasion under General Winfield Scott; entries for May 10-September 21, 1847, and background data extending from December,
1844. Excerpts from the diary of Juan Antonio Rivera, chaplain of the Hospital de Jesús Nazareno in Mexico City; pleas for
governmental support of the Jesuits, with printed copy of a presidential decree to this effect, June 22, 1843; draft of an
article on the death of General Morelos; necrology of Dr. Santiago, Mexico City, 1845; official communication on agricultural-export
policy, November, 1844.
