Marshall Steel Jr. (1906?-June 21, 1997) was a well-known philanthropist in the East Bay and Monterey Bay areas. Born in Berkeley,
California, Steel graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1937. After traveling to Europe, he returned to
California and joined the family dry cleaning and laundry business, the Marshall Steel Company, founded by his father in 1904,
which he managed for 25 years until its sale.
