Because of his extensive knowledge and abilities with landscape analysis and resources management practices, Litton was often hired as a consultant by both commercial and non-profit entities. His consulting included work for the Tennessee Valley Authority on the impacts of Coal Strip Mining and for the firm of Jones & Jones on a project related to Highway Development. Series Scope and Content Summary

These folders contain course syllabi, reading lists, lecture notes, and assignments for the breadth of courses which Litton taught from 1962 through 1998. The largest collection of material is for Litton’s LA 223 course, Introduction to California Landscape, which he taught with fellow professors Joe McBride and Michael Laurie from 1979-1998. The class often took weekend long field trips to various California landscapes and landscape forms, which they would then sketch, analyze and submit written observations about as part of the coursework.
