Arrangement

Bill files are arranged chronologically by legislative session then numerically by bill number within legislative house.

Scope and Content Note

Most bill files include all or some of the following items: bill analyses, amendments and resolutions, author's statements, testimony, press releases, newspaper clippings, correspondence, roll calls, records of votes, and committee statements. Of particular interest are those bills relating to adult day health care, elder and dependent abuse, Medi-Care, Medi-Cal, multipurpose senior service programs, nursing home care, preadmission screening, senior housing, senior nutrition projects, preadmission screening, and respite care services.

Arrangement

Hearing files are arranged chronologically by hearing date.

Scope and Content Note

Hearing types include informational hearings, joint informational hearings, and round tables. Files may contain agendas, testimony, transcripts, reports, and background material. Seventeen audiocassettes have been separated from the files and are stored separately for preservation purposes. A separation sheet is placed in the folders to alert researchers to the existence of such material.

Series 3 Subject Files 1971-1989

Arrangement

Subject files are arranged alphabetically by subject title.

Scope and Content Note

Subject files created by the various Aging Committees include correspondence, background materials, notes, reports, newspaper clippings, and subcommittee information. Of particular interest are those files related to the California Department of Aging, Older Americans Act, and the Older Californians Act. Researchers may also be interested in files related to general health care and dependent abuse.

Arrangement

Chronological correspondence files are arranged chronologically.

Scope and Content Note

The chronological correspondence files are mostly related to committee and bill issues and are from committee members, constituents, lobbyists, legislative analysts, department heads, and other state employees.
