Biography/Administrative History

The collector was Yolanda O. Wilson. Source: Los Angeles Times obituary, 2014: After graduating from Garfield High, Yolanda entered the Los Angeles County workforce. She proved to be a valued employee for more than 40 years working in the secretarial field in Health Services, Sheriff, and ultimately attained the position of Executive Secretary to the Chief Executive Officer. She was very proud to be a "Civil Servant" and made many life-long friends during her career.

Scope and Content of Collection

Publications, scrapbooks, programs, invitations, photographs and papers produced by the Los Angeles County government in the course of planning special and commemorative events. Events include the County Courthouse dedication in 1958; County Hall of Administration building dedication in 1960; County building dedication at Long Beach in 1960; County Hall of Records dedication in 1962; Hollywood Museum groundbreaking in 1963; Presidential Inaugural Committee for Ronald Reagan in 1981; the XXIIIrd Olympiad held at Los Angeles in 1984; Pope John Paul II visit in 1987; 1989 Grammy Awards; memorial for Supervisor Kenneth Hahn in 1997; Consular Corps activities; information about the University of Southern California Medical Center; and specimens of the County flag, the County seal and information cards. 1913-1989, undated (bulk is 1958-1989)
