Biographical / Historical

Marc Van der Hout is the founding member of Van Der Hout, Brigagliano and Nightingale, LLP and is a California State Bar Certified Specialist in Immigration and Nationality Law. Van der Hout graduated from the University of Michigan in 1970 and from Golden Gate University School of Law in 1977. He was national president of the National Lawyers Guild in 1985-86. He is also an active member of the Board of Governors of the American Immigration Lawyers' Association (AILA), serves on AILA's national Litigation Committee, and is a past chair of the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild. Van der Hout has served on the National Lawyers Guild governing board for the past 20 years. He is the recipient of the American Immigration Lawyers Association premier award for outstanding litigation in the field of immigration law.

Collection materials date to the mid-1980s and include: files relating to deportation cases; adminstrative files from Van der Hout's tenure as national president of the National Lawyers Guild; files from the mid-1980s relating to the work of the National Lawyers Guild work on Central American issues; case files relating to National Lawyers Guild v.
