Private Second Class Berry N. Oliver, United States Army (b. 8/5/1983) was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and attended
George Washington High School and the Colorado Institute of Art. He joined the Army at age 17 and turned 18 during basic training
at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri with D Company, 787 MP Battalion, 3rd Platoon. He later served at Fort Bragg, North Carolina,
and lived in various cities in Colorado.

This collection contains one letter from PV2 Berry N. Oliver, USA to his family on September 11, 2001. He was in basic training
at Fort Leonard Wood and wrote this letter beginning at 11:03 am shortly after the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.
His message is that of confusion as his entire platoon is waiting to learn what happens next, not allowed to watch television,
and assures his family that everything is going to be fine.
