Biographical / Historical

Lieutenant James Robert Green, United States Marine Corps (3/19/1932 - 5/10/2016) was born in Madison, Indiana to Robert John Green and Mary L. Green. His siblings include Mrs. Lena Storm, Mrs. Martha Loos, and Raymond Gree. He graduated from Madison High School in 1950 and according to the donor, served in the Korean War from 1950-1951. Lt. Green also served in Vietnam where he earned a Bronze Star for his heoroism during Operations Liberty.

This collection contains six-letters written by Lt. James R. Green, USMC to his daughter Kathy Mitchell while serving during the Vietnam War. Also included are clippings recording how Lt. Green earned a Bronze Star while serving in Vietnam.
