Biographical / Historical
The Cucamonga Winery was a winery founded in 1933 by Alfred Accomazzo, who came to the
United States from Italy in 1902. The winery was located in Cucamonga, California - a
community that later became part of Rancho Cucamonga in 1977. The Cucamonga Winery mostly
produced jug and table wines and it was believed to be the first winery to use Cucamonga in
its name. Cucamonga Winery also sold wines under other labels, including "Romano" in New
York state. Romano was the name of a big distributor in New York and the state was the
winery's largest market.
Accomazzo's nephew, Edmund, later took over operation of the winery along with Edmund's
cousin, Arthur. The winery lasted until 1975, although the Accomazzos partnered with another
winery in Elk Grove, California and continued to sell wine under the Cucamonga Winery label
until 1983. Edmund Accomazzo died in 2005.
Scope and Contents
The collection contains photographs, pamphlets, original and photocopies of wine labels
from various Cucamonga Winery brands, photocopies of trademark records, photocopies of the
