Abstract: This collection contains the Pandemic Bookkeeping art project by Cheryl Derricotte. The project is Derricotte's version of
a "plague journal" and consists of a book called LASTGASPISM: Art and Survival in the Age of the Pandemic, 12 digital collages,
and 6 original artworks.
Physical Location: The collection is stored on site.

The collection is available for use during San Francisco History Center hours, with photographs available during Photo Desk
hours. Collections that are stored offsite should be requested 48 hours in advance.
All requests for permission to publish or quote from manuscripts must be submitted in writing to the City Archivist. Permission
for publication is given on behalf of the San Francisco Public Library as the owner of the physical items.

This collection was donated directly to the library by the artist and SFAC in April, 2023.
Researchers are encouraged to see also the Ajuan Mance Posters for the SFAC COVID Command Center Artists in Residence Program

During processing, the entire collection was re-housed in an acid-free box.
This collection contains giclee prints. Gloves are required in order to handle these materials.
Cheryl Derricotte is a visual artist originally from Washington, DC, who now lives and makes art in San Francisco, CA. Her
art has been featured in the New York Times, The Guardian, The San Francisco Chronicle, MerciSF and the San Francisco Business
Times. Her work is in the permanent collections of the deYoung Museum, the Historic New Orleans Collection, the Oakland Museum
of California and the National Association of Homebuilders. In 2022, Cheryl was named Inaugural BIPOC Artist-in-Residence
at the Corning Museum of Glass: The Studio.
She currently serves as the 2023/2024 Kala Art Institute, Municipal Artist-in-Residence for the City of Berkeley's Climate
Equity Pilot Program. As a licensed city planner and member of the American Institute of Certified Planners since 1995, she
also serves as the Professional Development Officer of the new Arts and Planning Division of the American Planning Association.
This collection contains the Pandemic Bookkeeping art project by Cheryl Derricotte. The project is Derricotte's version of
a "plague journal" and consists of a book called LASTGASPISM: Art and Survival in the Age of the Pandemic, 12 digital collages,
and 6 original artworks on giclee prints. The original art prints follow the theme of counting combined with inspiration from
the journal of Clara Burton, the founder of the American Red Cross, and share an assessment of how Derricotte's pandemic-era
household compares to that of a middle-class Victorian/Civil War-era one.
This collection is arranged in its original order with the Artist Statement, Cheryl Derricotte's biography, and CV at the
top, followed by a copy of Lastgaspism by Anthony Romero with Derricotte's six Pandemic Bookkeeping prints (numbered 1 through
6) at the bottom.
