Abstract: This collection contains the papers and scrapbooks of American film writer and director Tay Garnett (1898-1977), including
screenplays, scripts, and scrapbooks.

Tay Garnett (1894-1977) was an American film director and writer. Garnet produced and directed films such as "Joy of Living"
(1938), "Trade Winds" (1938), "Eternally Yours" (1939), and "Slightly Honorable" (1939). He created the NBC Red comedy-detective
radio program "Three Sheets to the Wind" (1942). Garnett wrote "That's My Baby" (1926), "Up in Mabel's Room" (1926), "The
Strong Man" (1926), "There You Are!" (1926), "The Cruise of the Jasper B" (1926), and "Rubber Tires" (1927).
This collection contains the papers and scrapbooks of American film writer and director Tay Garnett (1898-1977). Materials
include approximately 39 screenplays, most annotated by Garnett, including One-Way Passage (1932), China Seas (1935), Bataan
(1943), The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946), and Cattle King (1963); scripts for approximately 20 episodes of Three Sheets
to the Wind (1942), a half-hour radio program produced and directed by Garnett and starring John Wayne; and 2 scrapbooks containing
reviews, clippings, programs, and posters relating to Garnett's career from 1928 to 1937.
