School of Law.
Kenneth Starr was an American lawyer and judge who made a lasting impact on those he encountered while working in academia,
law, and public service. Starr was born on July 21, 1946 and grew up in Texas, where his father served as a church of Christ
minister. He is especially known for being a former U.S. Federal Court of Appeals Judge, U.S. Solicitor General, and Independent
Counsel. Additionally, he was the Duane and Kelly Roberts Dean of Pepperdine School of Law from 2004-2010, as well as the
President of Baylor University between 2010-2016. He dedicated time to hold leadership positions on nonprofit boards and professional
boards such as the Christian Legal Society and the Council for Court Excellence. He will be remembered as championing the
cause of religious liberty and freedom of conscience for all people.
