This collection consists of printer Richard J. Hoffman's (1912-1989) personal collection of printed books and printmaking books. These books cover subjects such as lithography, typography, and printmaking. Hoffman was a printer and professor of printmaking and graphic arts in Los Angeles.

Biographical / Historical

Richard J. Hoffman (1912-1989) was a printer, printmaking and grpahic design professor, and an active memeber of many printmaking associations and clubs. He was a Master's student at the University of Southern California. Hoffman taught at Los Angeles City College and CSU Los Angeles. He had his own printing office where he wrote, designed, and printed many of his own books. It is estimated that Hoffman printed some 50,000 items over his lifetime.
