Biographical / Historical

Hugh Fordin (1935-2019) was a theater and music producer and author of multiple books including works on of Oscar Hammerstein and Arthur Freed and his MGM musicals department.

Scope and Contents

This small collection contains papers of American music producer and biographer Hugh Fordin (1935-2019). Materials consist of some research subject files, movie stills, cassette tapes of an interview of American author and MGM vocal arranger Kay Thompson (1909-1998) conducted by Fordin in 1972, and a typescript manuscript and proof of Fordin's book The World of Entertainment! Hollywood's Greatest Musicals: The Freed Unit at MGM (1975) about Arthur Freed (1894-1973) and his MGM musicals department.
