Biographical / Historical

Corporal Thomas G. "Skip" Hannon, United States Army (b. 8/10/1930) was born in New York City to Thomas G. and Lillian B. Hannon. He lived in Bronx, New York and attended P.S. 68 and Mount St. Michael Academy. He was drafted into the Army at age 21 and was discharged after being wounded in North Korea as part of the 955 Field Artillery. One of his friends, Lawrence Jock, was stationed in South Korea and killed in action on July 14, 1953. He married Patricia Scollard in 1956 and had two children, James and Catherine. Thomas later worked in insurance safety, environmental organizations, politics, and veterans right. He was named the Manatee County Veteran of the Year in 2012.
