The collection is separated into two series, interview transcripts and supporting material, and arranged alphabetically by
narrator (interviewee) or subject within each series.

Processing Information
Transcripts were created from cassette tape recordings under the supervision of Grushkin, and some were vetted by the narrator
(interviewee). Some transcripts reflect manuscript emendations and corrections, but errors were not always corrected.
Scope and Content
This collection comprises interviews transcripts and associated research materials compiled by Paul Grushkin during his work
on the book
The Art of Rock: Posters from Presley to Punk (1987). Included are interviews with many of the artists and printers responsible for the posters commissioned by the Fillmore
Auditorium, the Avalon Ballroom, and several other venues in San Francisco and other cities in the 1960s and 1970s, along
with several other significant figures associated with rock music during that era.
