Biographical / Historical

International Socialists was established when fragments of the splintered Students for a Democratic Society joined the Independent Socialist Clubs of America (ISCA), thereby renaming the organization International Socialists. The ISCA was an amalgamation of various clubs from around the United States which emulated the Berkeley International Socialist Club (ISC), a student organiztion involved with black liberation, the anti-Vietnam War movement, the women's and gay liberation, union organizing, the Peace and Freedom Party, and the Black Panther Party. International Socialists' newspaper, Workers' Power, highlighted rank-and-file organizing and civil rights activism, among other topics.
