The main campaigns include California's Proposition 17, California's Senate Bill 1482 and Assembly Bill 4460, House Resolution 4223 and California's Proposition 13 (unrelated to California's Proposition 13 to limit property taxation in the state which passed in 1978).

The campaign for Proposition 17, the Wild and Scenic Rivers Initiative, a 1974 California ballot initiative to place portions of the Stanislaus River under the state's wild river protective status, includes materials on organizing and awareness campaign events. Includes documentation on the Row for the River event, an approximately 200 mile, 9 day kayaking action in September 1974, commencing at Camp Nine (9) on the Stanislaus River and finishing in the San Francisco Bay. The Proposition 17 initiative failed to pass in the November 5, 1974 election.

California's Senate Bill 1482 and Assembly Bill 4460, initiatives supported by Friends of the River, Friends of the Earth, Sierra Club, and many other environmental groups, includes documentation with analysis by Senator Peter Behr. The legislation aimed to place the Stanislaus River under the protection of the California Wild and Scenic Rivers Act.

House Resolution 4223 includes documentation for the bill introduced in the House in 1979 to amend the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act by designating certain segments of the Stanislaus River as a component of the National Wild and Scenic River System.

Includes policy drafts of California's Proposition 13, also known as the Water Initiative, the Water Conservation and Efficiency Act and the Stanislaus Initiative Campaign, which appeared on the 1982 General Election ballot for California. Also contains some materials from the California Water Protection Council such as organizing letters, steering committee meeting agendas, notes and budgets.
