Biography/Administrative History

The Carmel Citizens Committee was a non-profit organization, incorporated on December 11, 1959, that preceded the Carmel Residents Association. The corporation had three purposes: 1) To foster, protect and preserve so far as possible the well-known and priceless scenic, cultural and predominantly residential character of the Carmel area by stimulating active citizen interest and participation in community affairs, 2) To render assistance on a non-partisan basis to the public officials of the City of Carmel and the County of Monterey in their support of the objectives of the Carmel Citizens Committee, and 3) To foster and promote, through public education the purposes and objectives of the Carmel Citizens Committee.

This collection contains: newspaper clippings organized in subject files, Committee correspondence, Committee minutes, membership lists, election information, bylaws, and Committee Stationary.
