Biographical / Historical

Robert Clatworthy (1911-1992) was an American art director and production designer. He won an Academy Award for Best Art Direction for "Ship of Fools" (1965) and was nominated in the same category for "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" (1967), "Psycho" (1960), "That Touch of Mink" (1962) and "Inside Daisy Clover" (1965). Clatworthy also worked on the films "Touch of Evil" (1958), "The Parent Trap" (1961), and "The Whiz Kid and the Mystery at Riverton" (1974).

This collection consists of the papers of art director and production designer Robert Clatworthy (1911-1992). Materials include scripts, location photographs, film stills, sketches, storyboards, set designs, and architectural information for films that he worked on. These films include "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?" (1967), "Psycho" (1960), and "Ship of Fools" (1965).
