Abstract: Alex Taub (1892-1974) was an engineer with industrialization expertise. He was born in London in 1892, immigrated to the United States in 1908, became a U.S. citizen in 1920, and died in Washington, D.C., in 1974. Collection is composed of a single bound typescript - a personal journal titled "Journal of a mission to China," which describes Taub's activities in China in 1944.

Biographical Note

Alex Taub (1892-1974) was an engineer with industrialization expertise. He was born in London in 1892, immigrated to the United States in 1908, became a U.S. citizen in 1920, and died in Washington, D.C., in 1974. He led industrialization projects in Brazil during the late 1930s through the early 1940s. In 1944 Taub was recruited by the Nationalist Chinese government under Chiang Kai-shek to help devise an industrial program in China. He supervised a team of 300+ engineers to work on a fundamental industrialization program to develop China's industrial and economic conditions.
