Biographical / Historical

The collection contains materials collected by and related to Robert Eugene Gallatin and his friendship with astronaut Gene Cernan. The collection includes documents, correspondence, news articles and clippings, and photographs.
Robert Eugene Gallatin served as a pilot the U.S. Navy during World War II, Korea and Vietnam, retiring as a captain in 1976 after 30 years of service. He was born September 6, 1919 in York Pennsylvania and died November 11, 1988 in San Diego, California.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The materials in this collection were donated to the San Diego Air & Space Museum in May 2023.
