Scope and Contents
This box contains public health reports for California, reports and articles, travel magazines, docent and tour training for
the Museum of Ventura County, a Huell Howser VHS tape on the missions featuring Ventura's mission, photographic slides, 8
compact cassettes, and 2 IUDs. The public health reports provide statistics for the years 1928-1962 and 1976. Atkisson was
an avid traveler, and her papers include travel magazines and ephemera, including a travel magazine for Arizona featuring
photographs of Indigenous people.
The photographic slides feature personal photographs, public health presentation slides, public health department events and
programming, and some unidentified images. The photographs include images of a presentation of the important of measles immunization,
newborn care, prenatal health clinics, and public health facilities, among other things. The compact cassettes are largely
recordings of health-related talks and lectures on topics including lung cancer, smoking, hospice care, genetic counseling
and screening, and psychiatric care. The IUDs are the Dalkon Shield brand and from the early 1970s.
